What time is the Olympic archery on in the UK?

Here's the lowdown on the Olympic Archery Team and the schedule ahead of qualification on Friday in Tokyo.

Schedule

• Friday 23 July – qualifying (1am-3am BST for women and 5am-7am BST for men)
• Saturday 24 July – mixed team finals (1.30am-4.05am and 6.15-9.25am BST)
• Sunday 25 July – women’s team finals (1.30am-3.05am and 5.30am-9.25am BST)
• Monday 26 July – men’s team finals (1.30am-3.05am and 5.30-9.25am BST)
• Tuesday 27-Thursday 29 July – individual eliminations (1.30am-3.25am and 8am-12pm BST)
• Friday 30 July – women’s finals (1.30am-5.25am and 6.45am-9.20am BST)
• Saturday 31 July – men’s finals (1.30am-3.15am and 6.45am-9.20am BST)

The day the Olympic Games starts is the first day of the competition for archery. Women will shoot qualification in the morning of Friday 23 July, with the men qualifying in the afternoon. Once qualification is shot, brackets for eliminations will be confirmed. In the individual competition, everyone advances to the eliminations.

Tuesday 27 is the start of individual eliminations. Unlike normal World Archery events, the Olympic eliminations all take place at the arena. Friday and Saturday are the finals and the medal days, meaning the end of archery at the Olympics and new Olympic Champions crowned!

Olympic Archery Team

Women

Naomi Folkard

Naomi Folkard is competing at her fifth Olympic Games for Great Britain. Her highest individual finish was seventh at the Rio Games in 2016. This cycle has been one of many highs for Folkard as she has medalled at the past two World Championships, bronze in the mixed team and women's team. Folkard also won gold at the European Games with the women's team and silver in the mixed team. Folkard is currently ranked 67 in the world.

Bryony Pitman

Bryony Pitman is the youngest of the women's team. She was also part of the team that won gold at the European Games and bronze at the World Championships in 2019. Pitman is an integral part of the women's Olympic Archery Team and is shooting in her first Olympic Games. She has been shooting internationally since 2012. Pitman is currently ranked 107 in the world.

Sarah Bettles

Sarah Bettles will be competing at her first Olympic Games alongside Folkard and Pitman. Bettles was also part of the gold medalist team at the European Games and the bronze medal team at the World Championships in 2019. All three women won the spots at the 2019 World Championships for the Games. Bettles is currently ranked 81 in the world.

Men

Patrick Huston

Patrick Huston is shooting at his second Olympic Games after making his debut at the Rio Games in 2016. He was part of the team that won the spaces for the Games at the World Championships in 2019. Patrick Huston and Naomi Folkard were the mixed team who won bronze at the 2017 World Championships and silver at the European Games in 2019. Huston is currently ranked 52 in the world.

James Woodgate

James Woodgate is the youngest of the Olympic Archery Team. This will be his first Olympic Games. Woodgate is new to the team and has competed at the Lausanne and Paris Hyundai World Cup stages this year. He has the highest season-best of the men's Olympic Archery Team, which is currently 671. Woodgate is currently ranked 212 in the world.

Tom Hall

Tom Hall is making his debut at the Tokyo Games. He was also part of the bronze medalist team, along with Huston at the Antalya World Cup in 2018. Hall was part of the team that secured the Olympic spots at the World Championships in 2019. Hall is currently ranked 87 in the world.

Results

BBC has been reported to be unlikely to show archery on the red button for this Games, unless there is a medal match with Team GB archers. Archery will be shown on Eurosport and Discovery+.
