Children and young people from four special schools were invited to experience the thrill of archery at a fun day in Northern Ireland organised by Newtownabbey Rotary Club.
The event on Wednesday 11 June saw staff from Archery GB joined by 60 students who had the chance to shoot for gold and earn themselves medals and certificates.
Lisa Wheeler, Sport Development Officer for Archery GB, went along with Marty McCullough, lead coach for the NI schools archery project.
Students attended from Riverside School, Jordanstown School for the Deaf and Blind, Rosstulla School and Thornfield House Special School.
Stephen Clarke, from the Rotary club, said: "We were delighted to support this fun day for the special schools in our area, and particularly pleased to have the support of AGB and staff from all the schools involved."
Riverside School student Matthew said: "This was my first time trying archery so it was something new which I really enjoyed."
Rosstulla School PE teacher Alison said: "This was a great inclusive day for our students, giving them the opportunity to try something new."
Lisa Wheeler said: "Huge thanks go to Rotary Newtownabbey for putting on such a fabulous day. The staff, many of whom are Archery GB trained instructors from our school archery clubs, are incredible.
"The students themselves were so patient, waiting their turn and making all our jobs so easy. We wish all our days could be like this, filled with fun and laughter."
