Archery GB statement concerning conflict in Ukraine

Archery GB has written to Tom Dielen, Secretary General of World Archery, and Mario Scarzella, President of World Archery Europe regarding our position on the conflict in Ukraine. You can read the letter below:

Dear Tom and Mario

Whilst we believe that sport and politics should remain separate, we find ourselves in a very difficult and unique situation. We condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and we condemn the support of Belarus.

We are advised by our government not to host athletes or officials from either Russia or Belarus at our forthcoming UK hosted competitions, explicitly the European Youth Championships and the European Para Cup Final.

I hope this message indicates the solidarity we feel about our Ukrainian friends and the sorrow we feel in having to write to you both at this time.

Regards

Neil Armitage and the AGB Board
